Travel Lightly and Simply: Family Reflection Video

Love thy Neighbor

Most of us are all too familiar with an overstuffed bag or briefcase … packing lots of extra things “just in case.”

My overstuffed briefcase didn’t contain what the man I encountered needed. Instead he was asking for the healing power of God through my presence and prayers.

Each of us has something to offer our loved ones and those we meet in our day-to-day travels. In a way, each of us is like the 72 that Jesus sent out in advance of His arrival. When we’re not distracted by our own things, our heads are up and our eyes and ears are open to those who really need to receive what God has given to us.

What God-given gifts do you share fully and fruitfully with others? You might do this so naturally that you don’t think of it this way. Ask your family. They might be able to see those gifts in you more clearly. Are you often distracted by the things you carry with you to notice the God-given opportunities to serve others in His name?

On this feast day of St. Luke, the Evangelist, we are praying for you and your family here at the Father Peyton Center.
