How little baby chicks lead us in faith...
When Christianity was introduced to Uganda in the 1870s, the King told people they could either follow the King of Heaven, or him, their king here on earth. Those who chose to follow God were killed, and now their lives are celebrated each year for the sacrifice they made for their faith.
We follow in the footsteps of these people because today’s reading shows us the stronger the faith is, the more people will follow.
When trying to catch all the baby chicks and put them in the henhouse, it is difficult because they run here and there and everywhere. The trick is to get the mother hen, put some grain in the basket and catch her in there. She calls out to her baby chicks, and they all gather together. They come to her call because she is their strength.
How can we live our faith in strength, as the martyrs did?
I pray we do not become martyrs, but let us run like the baby chicks to the one calling us in faith.
