Where’s Your Focus Today? Family Reflection Video

Why pray?

This morning I went to see my doctor, Dr. Brown, and during the course of our conversation I asked him: “How do you stay focused on your patients throughout a long day?” He shared his four techniques with me.

In the reading today, when King Belshazzar had the chalices taken from the temple, he thought he was livening up his party, as he and his guests praised the gods of gold, silver, wood, and iron. What he was not expecting was a hand to appear before them and write on the walls.

While we may not see any actually writing on a wall to tell us things are going to change, we can still get so wrapped up in the tasks of our daily lives that we forget to focus on God - to pause and listen to Him.

God writes on our hearts and minds, and lets us know how we are doing, what we need to fix, and what we need to keep doing … but it’s up to us to take time and pay attention.

My question for us today is this: What has God written on your heart and mind today and what does it mean to you? Ask your family members too.

Especially in this very busy season, I pray that we all take the time to pause and listen to what God is trying to tell us.
