How can weeds be good?
We all have people in our lives we would rather not be around. The ones who feel like weeds trying to take away from your healthy harvest. Today, Jesus makes clear that any attempt to root out the weeds will only damage the crop.
We cannot be certain who is “in” and who is “out.” Jesus himself could have avoided doubting Thomas or traitor Judas, but weeds and wheat grow together and cannot be pulled apart without destroying each other. In each of us good and bad exist together, but God sees us as whole. There is always hope of redemption when the crop yields a good harvest.
How do we deal with people we don’t like? Do we consider them weeds that should be gotten rid of? Or are they opportunities given by God to be closer to him and help individuals flourish?
Let us pray for all those seeking God’s graces, that they may grow with the harvest and that we may welcome them alongside the wheat.
