Will You Be My Friend? Family Reflection Video

Love thy Neighbor  |  Holy lives of inspiration

“My father and I will come to him and make our dwelling with him.”

Today, when Jesus says these words, I think of a young man with Down Syndrome who served as the greeter at his church for years. He hugged everyone when they came in and made them feel welcome. I am also reminded of Jean Vanier, who opened a home for special needs adults back in the 1960s. He saw the terrible conditions other homes offered, and could not stand by as they we left out of society.

These people made a place, as Jesus does, for all people. One where all kinds of people are welcome and loved. Let us reach out in kindness today, even if the act seems like nothing –it is something Jesus would do as he welcomes us.

How have you made other welcome?
