“If you wish, you can cure me.”
I have always been struck by the boldness of the man who asks Jesus to cure him. Even though his disease marks him as unworthy in society, he approaches Jesus with dignity and makes no demands, just a simple request. This story is told not to demonstrate Jesus’s power to heal, but to demonstrate the faith the leprous man had in Jesus.
Miracles are witnessed every day in the countless men and women who care for loved ones, sick children, and aged parents. Jesus has been using the power of love within them to perform miracles. Jesus could be curing everyone himself, but instead relies on the good and holiness that is within us who he created.
What have you been asking Jesus for? Have you been a living example of God’s work?
Lord, grant us the wisdom to see your gifts to us are blessings and we are eternally grateful.
