God’s heart was grieved.
When God sees the good he created in humanity tainted, he was disappointed, but found favor in Noah. God’s heart grieved for all people, like a parent when their kids go astray. Jesus asks about the hearts of his disciples today, but says they do not understand what he does.
We do not fully understand the mystery of who God is and what his mission is for us. It is locked away in each of our hearts. But still, we hear his voice and asked him to create a clean heart in us. Not that our hearts are dirty, rather we are asking him to create a new heart that is more receptive to hearing and seeing as Jesus would have us hear and see.
How do we open our heart to Jesus, allowing God’s grace in?
We pray for our hearts to be cleansed, renewed as the Lord intends.
