We know the three wise men’s story bringing frankincense, gold, and myrrh to the new born king. But what we don’t often read about is the message they carry for us. The importance of these men is more than the gifts they bring … it’s what they have to tell us about seeking and finding.
The story about the three kings is a reminder that the road leading to God can be long and difficult. However, we are promised that if we seek God we shall find, if we knock the door will be opened to us, and if we ask it shall be given to us (Luke 11:9-10) ... oftentimes in ways we least expect it.
When you gather with your family on this beautiful Sunday, include U2’s song “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” in your daily reflection. Do you feel your family is restless in their search for God? How can you help each other in the search?
Thank you for joining me today. I pray that you and your family stay open to seeing and searching for God. God bless you all.
