“Jesus entered the synagogue. There was a man there who had a withered hand. They [the critics of Jesus] watched Jesus closely to see if he would cure him on the Sabbath so that they might accuse him.” (Mark 3:1)
Today we heard Jesus call each of us to change. Unfortunately in the gospel His call fell upon closed ears, shut eyes, and hardened hearts. They failed to comprehend how living like and for Jesus could transform their lives.
Jesus seeks men, women, and children with broken hearts, sorrowful hearts, hearts that are pliable and soft … hearts that will allow God reveal Himself to us.
What does this mean for you and your family? Reflect together on the state of your own hearts. Do you welcome and listen to your heart to better hear Jesus’ call?
Let’s close our time together in prayer:
Dear God,
Help us to stretch out our hands in prayer to you.
Sometimes we seem to create a collective hardness of heart resisting our family needs.
Teach us to grieve over our resentments and overcome them.
Amen.
