At times signs appear along roadways urging us to slow down, reduce speed, drive with caution and keep your eyes fixed on the road ahead. For me this is a fitting description of the season of Lent.
Fasting invites us to empty ourselves of something in the hopes that the emptiness we create will be filled with Jesus. We know He is with us and among us … but it is another thing to experience His presence!
For Lent, sometimes we give up things we enjoy – certain meals, foods and activities – to empty ourselves. But fasting can also include committing to do things. For example, caring for the needs of the poor and providing for the needs of the homeless can also be ways to fast.
How are you and your family observing Lent this year? Are you trying to make more room in your life for a more intense relationship with Jesus? If so, how? Let us know in the comment space below. Let’s inspire and motivate one another!
I pray you and your family will be able to slow down a bit during this Lenten season to experience the richness of our faith. God bless you.
