When tragedy strikes oftentimes the response one hears is, why did God allow this to happen? Where was God?
When Mary was told she would be the mother of our Lord, she did not ask what was in it for her. Jesus is who is in it for us. Why then are we so quick to question and doubt God?
An Amish proverb encourages us to, “Put everything in God’s hand and eventually you will see God’s hand in everything.” Talk with your family about the importance of turning all of your worries and doubts over to God.
Pray together:
Dear God,
in following you, I don’t feel I’ve given up anything.
I have only received, far more than I could ever dream of!
You are the source of that family treasure.
What is in it for me?
Only everything!
Amen.
