More than ever, the evil of addiction is tearing families apart.
In 1941, in Auschwitz concentration camp, Saint Maximilian Kolbe volunteered to die in place of a man with a family. His sacrifice is an act of the selfless love and an embodiment of what Jesus was trying to teach us.
Not all sacrifices require a physical death, but many do ask us to give up something of ourselves. People make extraordinary sacrifices for the well-being of others every day. This is a reminder that saints are ordinary men and women just like us who have the same goal: bringing the message of love and mercy to others.
With your family reflect on these questions: Do I love others as Jesus instructed? Am I prepared to offer love and compassion as selflessly as Saint Maximilian Kolbe? Is there anyone you know in need of his intercession?
I pray that you and your loved ones are protected by God’s love today and every day. Amen.
