In God’s eyes, no one is worth less and no one is worthless.
When a family’s chickens escaped attack from both a panther and a pack of foxes, they prayed in thanks: “His eye is on the chickens, and we know He watches over us.” This line is adapted from a hymn that was inspired by today’s reading. God watches over the sparrows that are sold for a few coins, showing us that no matter how small, all His creations are looked out for. He even counts the hairs on our heads.
We are in the care of God at all times. In His eyes we hold inestimable worth. When Pope Francis spoke of this he said, “In the eyes of God, no one is worth less and no one is worthless.”
Have I treated others as my brothers and sisters? Do I ever treat others as though they are less than I am? How can we treat others as our brothers and sisters today?
I pray that we treat others as our brothers and sister, all equal and valuable in the eyes of God.
