Guardian Angels, Our Forever Friends: Family Reflection Video

Celebrating family life

Angel of God, my guardian dear…

We don’t talk much about Guardian Angels as adults. Part of the problem may be we never adopted a prayer that adults would be comfortable with. In reflecting on the significance of Guardian Angels and seeking to describe them, I was reminded of a song I heard entitled “My Forever Friend” that speaks to who Guardian Angels are for me today.

Jesus was quite emphatic in speaking about their existence. In the gospel passage today he reminded his disciples not to be dismissive of children when he said, “I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father.”

St. Bernard of Clairvaux described our guardian angel as our bodyguard. How many of us truly believe that we have such an invaluable friend? How many of us today believe that each of us has received a Guardian Angel, a forever-friend?
