Holy Saturday Reflection for Families

Holy Saturday Reflection for Families

Seasonal Reflections

The Empty Tomb

St. Paul urged followers of Jesus to “run as to win the prize”. When Lent began I encouraged others to walk the road that led to God’s holy mountain with Easter being the prize. As we walked, there may have been times when we voiced a common refrain, often echoed by children out for a drive with their family, “are we there yet?” Well now we can say yes, we have arrived.

Unlike the holy women who ran to the tomb and found it empty and were gripped with fear and loneliness, this night, we join in the chorus of ‘Alleluias’ and shout for all to hear, HE IS RISEN. Let us spend time this day contemplating the incredible truth that out of love for us, God, in his Son, has overcome both sin and death.
