I Have Come to Set the Earth on Fire: Family Reflection Video

Strengthening family unity

I think you would agree, the earth is not blazing with the baptism that Jesus spoke of.

Grace and sin are still locked in a struggle. Families are fractured … sometimes because of religion, sometimes because of finances or a host of other reasons that bring about dissension.

There is a baptism which people need to receive and how great is the anguish until it is accomplished. The fire that continues to rage among families and families of nations can be extinguished by the waters of baptism.

For this to happen, you and I need to carry on what St. Paul and the other disciples were sent forth to do: make God known, loved and served. This starts in our own homes.

Perhaps at dinner or in the car when your family is sharing the events of their day with one another, ask each family member for one example of how he/she made God known, loved and served today. Ask the same question each night over the course of a couple weeks and see how much more specific the examples become!

Share your family’s examples in the space below. I look forward to hearing from you. God bless you all.
