I used to play with clay…
I remember playing with clay as a child. I would shape it into little scenery, dogs, and people and imagine them to be alive. I was able to give them form, but I could not breathe life into them, as God has done for each of us.
God provides us with so much, but just like Adam, people today want more. Even if the more would only serve to separate us from God, we still desire it. Jesus calls out the people in today’s gospel who refuse to eat certain foods, thinking they are bad for the soul. God has provided them with plenty, but they allowed vices to undermine the life breath that God has breathed into each one of us. We do this too, thinking what we have is not enough, but in what ways can we choose life over what is forbidden?
Do you feel the breath of God within you? What wonders does he surround you with?
How blest are we to receive Jesus at mass and for the gift of our lives!
