Shining like light for those who do not see clearly…
Today we honor Saint John Chysostom, a man who lived to speak the work of Jesus so beautifully, he was said to have a “golden mouth.” Even when he was thrown in prison for criticizing public officials, he wrote letters encouraging people to stay faithful to the teachings of Jesus and the God’s word.
I see Saint Paul as a similar character. Though he started out in life only criticizing others, he became a great speaker on behalf of Jesus, bringing messages of peace, mercy, and grace to people everywhere. He had to remove the wooden beam from his own eye, as Jesus said, before he could see clearly enough to help others.
How can we transform our lives in service to Jesus and our brothers and sisters in Christ?
