We know how hard it is, but Jesus said love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
After hearing today’s reading, it can be very difficult to imagine loving Ahab and his wife Jezebel after the terrible things they had done, but Jesus invites us to love and pray for our enemies so they might repent from the evil they have done. Jesus is asking us to be more like God.
Prayer is the easy part when it comes to people we don’t like. Handling situations with them and being around them requires us to act differently. Prayer will insure our concern for them will not run out and possibly contribute to a change in them and a change is us as well.
How do I handle situations with people I find it hard to warm up to? Who needs my prayers today?
Let us ask God today to help us resist that inner voice that keeps score and bitterness in our hearts, and in the heart of others.
