“…being ordinary puts no barriers in my way!” –Father Peyton
We have heard Jesus ask his disciples “Who do people say I am?” Today, let us look at this same question, as we celebrate Our Blessed Mother Mary. She is said to be an ordinary woman in her day, but is also described as a Queen, standing upon the moon, and surrounded by gold and the stars. Who is Mary for us?
Father Peyton had this to say: “Loving God wholeheartedly – like Mary, I was created to do just that – and being “ordinary” puts no barriers in my way!” Images of Mary are often wrapped in beliefs that set her apart from us, but we must remember that God’s invitation happens to ordinary people.
Are we listening for God’s invitations? How do we respond?
Though ordinary, Mary carried Christ within her. Ordinary as we are, let us work to carry Christ within us as well!
