A child’s innocent letter to Santa reveals concern for her family and her spirit of generosity.
We are reminded of gratitude and thankfulness today by the Scripture readings. We have the example of mothers who are thankful for the gift of their children and bring their children to the temple to acknowledge the gift that God has given them.
God remembered these women and these women remembered God. Gratitude is about remembering and Mary does that so well for us today in her song of remembrance: “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, and my Spirit rejoices in God my savior, for he has looked upon his lowly servant.”
Think about some of the things God has done, and is doing for us and for our families during these remaining days of Advent. What might God be calling us to do for families that have children that ask Santa for food and a toy - not for themselves - but to share with a sibling?
With Christmas almost here you might be very busy today. I am grateful you have decided to spend a few moments of your day here. I remember you in my prayers. May God bless you and your families.
