Seasonal Reflections

The stone was pushed back…

We hear again today about May of Magdala comes to find the tomb empty, with the stone pushed back. Some might say the stone was pushed back to let Jesus out, but some might see how it was pushed back to let us in.

Pope Francis says let us break open our sealed tombs to the Lord, so that He may enter and grant us life. It reminds me of my friend, who told me a few days ago that he often goes to Jesus last when he is struggling, instead of first. He compared it to sitting in the baseball dugout, and keeping Jesus on the sidelines, instead of letting him coach.

Do we do this to ourselves? How often do we allow Jesus to lead, to let his guidance into our hearts instead of doing everything ourselves?

Jesus is alive! Let us entrust ourselves to him, knowing we are on the right path.
