It is up to us to finish the phrase.
When Saint Francis head God’s voice saying “build my church,” he got to work. No, not fixing the walls and roofs of churches, but helping others experience the presence of God –the church was built through people. When Jesus speaks today of the harvest being ripe, but the laborers are few, he is talking about the souls of men and women who are hungry for fulfillment and meaning in their lives but come up empty.
Our church is hurting today in many but not all parts of the world. However, when one part hurts, we all hurt. The road ahead is a tough one, but Jesus will be beside us if we chose to walk it. We might begin by simply completing the sentence: “Jesus, today I will…”
What will we do today? How does it glorify God?
We pray that Jesus take our hand and walk with us all the days of our lives.
