Reflections of Family and Faith
"The family that prays together stays together." - Venerable Patrick Peyton
In one of the final, more emotional and less comical scenes in the comedy The Breakup, Brooke sits sobbing defeatedly on her bed as she pours out her broken heart to her ex-boyfriend, Gary. After listing off actions she habitually carried out to go above and beyond for him and their relationship, she wraps it all up with, “I don’t feel you appreciate me. And all I want is for you to just show me that you care.” Oh, Brooke. If only I could pounce through the screen and be your shoulder to cry on because, girl, I’ve been there and there are few girlfriends or wives who haven’t.

I dropped my son off at school last week, and I sat in the car lineup and watched as each kid before us got out, with a large bouquet of flowers. Every single kid. But mine.

The priest’s name was Fr. Agnes, and immediately prior to the conference, he had spent the past 10 years of his life in prayerful solitude on an island off the coast of France.

With it being the month of Mary and the month of Fatima and it being 2018 — the year after all the major jubilees of Divine Mercy and the centenary of Fatima having come to their end— I wanted to share what would be WAY too much for a single blog post. Already, I fear this one being a little long, so please forgive me!

When you are interiorly free you call others to freedom, whether you know it or not. Freedom attracts wherever it appears. A free man or a free woman creates a space where others feel safe and want to dwell. Our world is so full of conditions, demands, requirements, and obligations that we often wonder what is expected of us. But when we meet a truly free person, there are no expectations, only an invitation to reach into ourselves and discover there our own freedom. – Henri Nouwen

As a Catholic mom, I really want to foster love and devotion to the Blessed Mother in my family, but sometimes I have a hard time getting over all the hurdles that make it seem an impossible task.
