What Does God Ask of Us? Family Reflection Video

Love thy Neighbor

Sometimes, it is hard to understand the readings until someone explains then.

The readings for mass today are pretty straight-forward. Moses begins with a question for his people but also for us. What does the Lord, our God ask of us? Be in awe and wonder of God, follow his ways, love and serve him, keep his commandments. God concerns himself with the orphan and widow, befriends the alien, feeds them, and clothes them.

Now the hard part follows, and this is where we sometimes lose people. You too must befriend the alien, for you were once aliens yourselves. Lots of people still need to be rescued. And it is good to see that this awareness still exists, concern for adults and children whose lives are unsettled, aging parents, people with special needs, and our neighbors nearby.

In our prayer today, let us thank God for creating us like Him. Lead us to concern ourselves today with people we know to be in need.

How do you welcome and serve others?
