Father Patrick Peyton | Holy lives of inspiration | pray the rosary
On this 31st Anniversary of Father Patrick Peyton, C.S.C.'s death on June 3, 1992, we celebrate with a moving story of the power of the family Rosary from PRAY: THE STORY OF PATRICK PEYTON, producer and co-writer Megan Harrington. Growing up my parents made us — it was not a choice or an option — be in the kitchen at 7 am before school to pray the Rosary. They believed in its promises and the power of prayer. Gathering a herd of 11 children is not an easy task, especially in the morning. I’d like to tell you that their example launched me into the daily practice from the time I was a small girl until today, but unfortunately, it didn’t. The seed was planted, however, and I would be reminded of its effectiveness many times over the course of my life. I am forever grateful to my parents, who were the first witnesses of the faith.

Holy lives of inspiration | Love thy Neighbor
My hometown basketball team, the Boston Celtics, used to have a star player by the name of Paul Pierce. His nickname was “The Truth.” The people that gave him that nickname weren’t trying to be sacrilegious or blasphemous, only pointing out that he was the real deal of what it means to be a star in the NBA.

Holy lives of inspiration | Learn more about our faith
You might be puzzled by this phrase, and I almost hear you thinking, "What on earth is 'Baptism in the Holy Spirit?'" We all understand baptism with water – we've seen it many times. Sometimes it happens when adults come to faith in Jesus and step forward to be baptized to seal their commitment to Christ. But most often, it happens to babies when parents present them to be baptized, or 'christened' as it's still often called. But what is 'Baptism in the Holy Spirit?' If you feel confused about this, you're in good company!

As I got to the end of today’s gospel from St. John, I had one of those aha moments, an answer to something I think most of us wrestle with … why does God allow certain things in life to occur? I’d bet that, by now, all of us have a list of things that we’d categorize as: “This just doesn’t seem right or fair.” And, among our faithful brothers and sisters, I’ve heard it said, “Well, one day, if I make it to Heaven, I’m going to ask Jesus a lot of questions!”

Holy lives of inspiration | Seasonal Reflections
On Ascension Thursday, we gather to reflect on the final moment of Jesus' earthly life—the moment He ascends into heaven. How did the apostles live through these last moments of Jesus with them? Just think of how the apostles felt—just a few years before, they were living perfectly ordinary lives with families, friends, village, or neighborhood communities along with day-to-day routines that they followed almost without thinking, just as we do.

Holy lives of inspiration | Why pray?
Over 15 years ago, a television series named Prison Break was quite famous. It grabbed my attention and kept me fully engaged, season after season. Today's first reading has a perfect setting of a prison break. But reflecting deeper on it will tell us that it is not really about a prison break.
