“Come to me all of you who labor and are burdened - I will give you rest” We have all gone through seasons when we felt overwhelmed or exhausted by things that were going on in our lives. This might have been brought about by challenging circumstances in our personal lives, in our family, in our friendships, in our workplace, in clubs to which we belong, in our neighborhood, in our Church, in our country, or in our world. Times when we laid down to rest at night, and sleep wouldn’t come. Times when we turned and twisted in our bed half the night. Times when we woke up, our heart racing and our head pounding about the same things.

Strengthening family unity | Why pray?
“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.” Matthew 7: 24 We have just embarked on a wonderful time of the year. Let’s be sure to celebrate it to the full. That means living the first part: Advent! If we observe Advent first, then, when we come to Christmas, our joy will be deep and real.

If I were to ask you, “How much faith do you have?” What would you say? I think most of us would say, “It depends on the day, or even what time of day, for anyone who’s not really a morning person, before that first cup or two of coffee—believe me I understand!

Return to the Church | Why pray?
“Lord, please help me to see” (Luke 18:41). Those words spoken by the blind man to Jesus are a prayer, an attitude, and a recognition that we need Jesus, particularly when we’re discouraged, lost, or confused. Jesus responds to this man, saying, “Have sight; your faith has saved you” (Luke 18:42). In those seven words, Jesus concisely teaches us about the need for faith (in God) and its role in our ability to see what we need to do and where we’re going so that we make it to heaven.
