Psychological researchers have found that the more we direct our attention toward positive thoughts, the stronger the neural pathways connected to positive thoughts and feelings, even enhancing our ability to access them. Jesus and Saint Paul were able to lead others towards positivity. Saint Paul directs the attention of the Philippians to a positive state of mind by telling them he has confidence in them.

When St. Paul tells us to put on the “armor of God … to stand firm against the tactics of the devil,” I thought about what it’s like wear ice hockey equipment: the helmet, shoulder and elbow pads, shin guards, and gloves. By the time you’re finished gearing up, you feel invincible!
