Reflections of Family and Faith
"The family that prays together stays together." - Venerable Patrick Peyton
Return to the Church | Why pray?
Tom Brady is a GOAT. Perhaps the greatest of all time to play quarterback for an NFL team … or two. In New England, we are grateful for the enjoyment he provided over twenty years and the gracious way in which he moved on to Tampa Bay. He has found in the four agreements a core set of beliefs and practices that help him to be free, to be happy and to love his family, friends, and others.

Strengthening family unity | Why pray?
It’s 2:30 AM. You’ve woken up and you’re not going back to sleep. What do you do? I suggest you try staying calm, not tossing and turning. Breath in and out calmly … and as you breath out say quietly, over and over, “Jesus, I trust in you. Jesus, I trust in you.” For whatever reason you are awake, know that you are not alone! The Lord is with you. I also recommend holding a Rosary in your hand when you sleep. Gently call out to the Lord and to Mary.

Scientific research has shown that prayer can affect healing. In 1988, San Francisco cardiologist Randolph Byrd conducted an experiment in which he asked a group of born-again Christians to pray for a group of hospitalized patients, and compare the results to similarly affected patients who were not on the prayer list during the time of the study.

Healing the family | Why pray?
"If you wish, you can make me clean." Those words contain the essence of how we begin each Confession; we speak the words, "Bless me, Father, for I have sinned."

Jesus said, “Come after me and I will make you fishers of men.” They abandoned their nets and followed Him. That is such an amazing statement describing the calling of the first four apostles.

Seasonal Reflections | Why pray?
Let us not domesticate Christmas! It is something of a miracle that each year Christmas comes and a peace descends upon the whole earth, as families and friends come together to celebrate. Certainly this year we need consolation of friends and family, and we hope and pray that people can find it, in spite of all the restrictions.
