Reflections of Family and Faith
"The family that prays together stays together." - Venerable Patrick Peyton
Venerable Patrick Peyton’s message of family prayer has helped millions of families find their way through life - with all its challenges – on the road to eternal life! We are contemplating key foundations, “charisms” of the spirituality that he learned in his Religious Order, the Congregation of Holy Cross. The second Holy Cross charism is Unity, in the Holy Trinity and mirrored in the Holy Family. Today I want to focus on the triune God.

Last week we began to consider this first charism, asking “what is Divine Providence”. Today, let’s think about trust.

I am convinced that the Lord has very important lessons for us to learn this Holy Week. Christians believe in Divine Providence, not chance. Not that God wants to make bad things happen to us, but rather He is always with us, guiding and leading us to the fullness of life - - as we learn and grow on our way.

A message on a sign in front of a Church this past week read: “O Lord, I didn’t know I was going to have to give up so much this Lent!” What has happened has led us to what we might think of as our communal Lenten experience and so then consider as well what the Lord intends for us to learn together!

The human family is being led now, and being called to something! An understandable question would be, “If God is good and all powerful, why doesn’t He just stop this horrible virus?” An honest and searching response takes us to understand the mystery and the wonder of life itself that we discover especially at times of great trial!

Return to the Church | Seasonal Reflections
Today the Lord is making an impassioned call to us to entrust and give ourselves to Him as He, the God of the Universe, has given Himself to us. There is a bit of action in it so you need to pay attention.
