Reflections of Family and Faith
"The family that prays together stays together." - Venerable Patrick Peyton
Today we begin a ten-week series we are offering to our World at Prayer Blog community. Written by our own Father Jim Phalan, C.S.C., he explains the charisms of the Congregation of Holy Cross and how each and every one of us can grow closer to God by living them each and every day. We know you will find them enriching, particularly during this stressful time.

Seasonal Reflections | Strengthening family unity
With the coronavirus affair driving things so fast and furiously, we need to stay grounded and rooted, particularly in this season of Lent. I hope you all are finding ways to do that! Come back to peace. Find wisdom! Today I did something that always helps me: a visit to places in what has been my second home since I was 10 years old, Centerville, on Cape Cod, about an hour from where I live.

Hello Dear Friends! Thanks for joining us for this time of prayer from the Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary at the Museum of Family Prayer and the Father Peyton Center in Easton Massachusetts. During this time of Covid 19 restrictions each day at 11:30, Monday through Friday we will be offering a brief homily for the day and we will pray the Holy Rosary. I am Father Jim Phalan, National Director of the Family Rosary. We thank you for joining us, for being prayer partners with us at this time when it is so important that we come together to pray and to support one another, TRUSTING IN THE LORD. Things may be uncertain but we are certain of God’s love and that he always leads – particularly when we carry our crosses – always into new and greater life! Our Holy Mother Mary is always with us, guiding us to Jesus.

The Lord calls to us in Lent, through the words of Isaiah: Wash yourselves clean. Cease doing evil. Learn to do Good.

Strengthening family unity | Why pray?
I want to talk about the Coronavirus. Not to tell anyone what to do; rather, to think together about how to react, how to respond as Christians. This is a good case of putting virtue into practice, as the Scriptures today enjoin on us.

Right before the Entrance Song began, I felt it and as I looked around, I could see others did too. A strong and clear sense of the Presence of God came over us as thousands of kids from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles were gathered for the Holy Eucharist last Thursday in Anaheim California, at their annual Youth Day.
