In some countries of the world searching family history has become popular. I’ve watched a couple of television programs that have researched the family history of some well know personalities, and even the personalities have been surprised to discover who was in their family tree.

What enabled Stephen, to stand up to the authorities of his day and defend his belief in Christ knowing he would suffer persecution and even death? The answer is found in the gospel today when people asked Jesus, what could they do to accomplish the works of God and he replied, "believe in the one He sent." St. Faustina knew this well when she said, "Jesus I trust in you."

So much is happening this Holy Week. Palm Sunday begins with the triumphant entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem, and ended with his death on the cross. This Holy Week brings about special reflections Jesus, and of the persons of Isaiah, Judas, and the Beloved Disciple, Peter.

I had finished celebrating Mass and was about to exit the church when a parishioner approached me and said “Father my mother is a celebrity, she had her picture taken with the governor while getting her COVID vaccine. I’m sure the next time she sees you she will show you the picture that appeared in the newspaper."
