Reflections of Family and Faith
"The family that prays together stays together." - Venerable Patrick Peyton
In today’s Gospel reading, we encounter a profound message that resonates deeply within each of our lives. As we listen to Jesus’ urgent voice in the scripture from John 12:44-50, we hear Him not just speaking to the crowd, but addressing each of us personally: "He who believes in me believes not in me but in Him who sent me. And he who sees me sees Him who sent me."

Happy Easter! In this season of renewal and hope, I am moved to share a profound story that has touched my heart deeply, imparted to me by one of the Holy Cross priests. It is the story of a community member who, in his final moments, shared a revelation that resonates deeply with the spirit of Easter. As he lay on his deathbed, he whispered with a serene smile, "I rejoice," expressing his joy and anticipation for what awaited him beyond this life. His words, "I am so happy to see what awaits me," remind us that in the journey of faith, death is not an end but a gateway to a new beginning.

Reflecting on the profound words from Psalm 43:3, "Then will I go in to the altar of God, the God of my gladness and joy; Then will I give you thanks upon the harp, O God, my God!" I am reminded of the journey that led me to where I am today—a journey filled with dreams, aspirations, and the guiding hand of God.

Holy lives of inspiration | Learn more about our faith
Today's scripture paints a powerful picture of leadership, unlike anything the world offers. It's not about titles, authority, or personal gain. It's about a radical shift in perspective—from seeking to be served to serving with love and truth. We, as families, are the foundation of society. It's within our homes that the seeds of leadership are first sown. We are the architects who shape the character and values of the next generation, but imagine if our leadership wasn't about controlling or dictating but about empowering and inspiring?

Seasonal Reflections | Strengthening family unity
Imagine your family as a garden. Sunlight streams through the windows, warming the soil where seeds of love, trust, and forgiveness have been planted. But remember, these seeds won't sprout overnight. Just like rain patiently nourishes the earth, God's love works steadily within our families, coaxing our relationships to blossom in their own time.

Sisters and Brothers, today we gather to celebrate the Eucharist and commemorate the 150th anniversary of Blessed Basil Moreau's journey into eternal life. We stand in this chapel, a silent witness to our hopes and struggles, a reminder that faith and perseverance are intertwined, especially when doubt lingers, and challenges loom large.
