Reflections of Family and Faith
"The family that prays together stays together." - Venerable Patrick Peyton
Celebrating family life | Why pray?
Father Peyton often said that, even though he came from a large poor family, he was rich. His home gave him everything. Because Jesus and Mary were at the center, faith was his family’s foundation. Family prayer, specifically daily prayer of the Rosary, gave him all he needed to become all the Lord made him to be.

Today we remember the Dedication of the Basilica of Saint Mary Major in Rome. One might ask, “Why make a big deal about a church so far away, built so long ago?”

St. Ignatius of Loyola is really one of the most influential saints of the last 500 years. He was the founder of the Society of Jesus, the Jesuits, who have exercised so much leadership and done so much good for the Church. Pope Francis is a Jesuit!

Last night I saw a film called PRAY and it’s the story of the life and mission of Venerable Patrick Peyton. It moved me to tears. It’s so inspiring! It will be released to the world in October. I pray millions of people will see it and be moved by Father Peyton’s message that is so important for families today, "the family that prays together stays together."

It’s truly a blessing for us to be together again as a family of prayer. The Lord’s family, His Mother, brothers, sisters. As such, we are really grateful to receive your prayer requests for our prayer together. We have a convenient way to share prayer – to send a request for prayer and to pray for others’ intentions on our website. Please go to www.familyrosary.org and click on the menu for prayer that will lead you to the page to write your prayer request.

I have a young friend, Sophia, who’s four years old. Her grandmother told me recently that when Sophia heard that her grandfather was going to have some eye surgery, she immediately and quite naturally started to talk to God about the operation, very much like she was conversing and like He was talking back!
